Dental hygiene appointments at Bath Spa Dentistry

Regular hygiene appointments are one of the simplest ways to protect your teeth and gums between check-ups. At Bath Spa Dentistry, professional teeth cleaning and dental cleaning appointments are carried out by Jessica Seton and Sarah Broadberry, both experienced in gum health and stain removal.

You can choose from traditional scale-and-polish teeth cleaning methods or Airflow tooth polishing technology.

What does a dental hygienist do?

A dental hygienist cleans your teeth and gums professionally, removing plaque and tartar build-up that brushing alone can't reach, and lifting surface stains from things like tea, coffee, red wine, or smoking.

Hygiene appointments also cover advice on brushing and flossing techniques, tailored to your unique dental health (for example, if you have missing teeth, or have had cosmetic work done).

Where necessary Jessica and Sarah are able to provide local anaesthetic for patients who struggle with sensitivity and discomfort during a hygiene appointment.

How much does a hygienist appointment cost?

Hygiene appointments are one of the most economical ways to invest in your oral health. We maintain up-to-date pricing for our treatments on our pricing page, and will provide you with a full breakdown of costs before we begin your treatment.
Many patients cover the cost of regular hygiene visits through one of our membership plans, which help you to spread the cost of your preventative dental care with an easy monthly payment.

Your hygiene appointment at Bath Spa Dentistry

Your assessment

Your hygienist checks your gums and teeth, and discusses any areas that need extra attention before starting your clean.

Your clean

Using EMS Airflow, tartar and surface staining are gently removed, giving a thorough clean without the scrape of traditional tools.

Ongoing care advice

You'll leave with tailored brushing and flossing advice, and a recommendation for when to book your next hygiene visit.

Do I need to see a dental hygienist?

Most people benefit from a hygiene appointment every six months, alongside their regular check-up, even if your teeth feel fine.

Signs it's worth booking sooner include visible staining, bleeding or swollen gums, or bad breath that doesn't clear up.

Your dentist may also recommend a hygiene visit if they spot early signs of gum disease at a check-up.
