Bridges
Bridges are a series of crowns joined together to cover or close a space left by the loss of one or more teeth. In order to fit a bridge, the teeth either side of the gap are prepared. The disadvantage of having a bridge is the preparation will involve drilling on healthy tooth tissue that otherwise would not need to have anything done to it. Bridges are permanent and last 10-15 years, once fitted they look and feel like a natural tooth.
A bridge is constructed from porcelain fused to metal or ceramic materials. Traditionally the process of making a bridge can take two to four weeks, because it's designed and constructed in a dental laboratory. At Bath Spa Dentistry we can speed up this process by using the latest technology, CEREC. This means for some patients the bridge can be designed, milled and fitted in just one visit.
