Frequently asked questions

How does Invisalign® work?

Our clinician Robert Thompson will take impressions of your teeth and create a personalised treatment plan so you can see the finished effect. We use this to create a series of virtually invisible aligners which are changed every 2-3 weeks to gradually reposition your teeth. Your dentist will examine you regularly during this time to check your progress. Once you’re happy with your smile you’ll receive a custom-made retainer to wear at nighttime to ensure long lasting results.

Does Invisalign® hurt?

Usually the first few days when you first start wearing Invisalign® you can get a mild discomfort – almost like a bruising feeling. Once your teeth get used to the movement (just like if your muscles are getting used to going to the gym) then the discomfort ceases.

Will Invisalign® give me a lisp?

Usually no. Some people suffer from a lisp for an hour or so when the Invisalign tray is placed. They very quickly lose this. Sometimes its lasts for a day or two. It would be very rare for this lisp to stay during the whole of treatment.

Do I need to change my eating habits during treatment?

Because the Invisalign® aligners are easy to take out you can continue to eat and brush your teeth as normal.
